A Look at the Coming Week - July 27, 2009

There is lots and lots of excitement in the Vance home and office. My precious daughter, (and only daughter) Lizzy announced this week that she is engaged! As the first our three children to get engaged, this naturally has caused quite a stir. Her mother Margaret (my wife of 32 years!) and her office mothers, Sue and Phyllis are busy making plans already for the big day. No date has been set but is tentively scheduled for next May or June.
Lizzy joined us two years ago and has been such a great addition to the firm. She is working on her credential to be a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and will soon be working with clients. She has a degree in nutrition from Chico State and has found that the transition from food to money has been more exciting. At least that is what I am telling her.
She actually met her fiance, Cory Wright, right here in our office! At a time when she was trying to decide if financial planning was the right career path, Cory stopped by our office to interview her for a job with Novartis. He is a pharmaceutical rep for the Novartis animal health division. We are so looking forward to welcoming him to our family.
From all of us at Vance Capital Management, we welcome the exciting news and wish the gorgeous (no, I am not prejudiced; it's a fact!) bride-to-be and husband-to-be all the best success.
Of course, there is nothing like an upcoming wedding to spur me to greater heights in managing money; we will need to generate lots of profits for all of you to pay those breath-taking costs! And, it will all be worth it.
As the New York Times says, "that's all the news that's fit to print!
Next week, I will report on the money managers conference in Vancouver that I attended last week. We had lots of great speakers so there is much to tell.
